AU_WPing adds Featured Image functionality

FYI => Attaching an image to an AU_WPing message has never been ideal. Basically, (in WordPress admin) it was Media > Add New and then copy/paste that URL into a post meta field. Clunky, but it worked.

Thankfully, good things come to those who wait.

Note:  The feature list as of this post is not up to date. I’ll get to that when I’m finished testing. None the less, AU_WPing is the premier social media broadcasting plugin for WordPress. There is nothing else like it in the known universe.

Recently, in the process of tricking out my WordPress theme AU_Community I discovered how to added a Featured Image widget to the admin Post > Add New page. To cut a long story short, the rest is history. For you WP dev junkies these might help:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_post_thumbnail_id

http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_get_attachment_image_src

But wait, there’s more…

I also added functionality that allows for the selection of a post level image from a drop down list. Those default select images (as I call them) can be defined at both a user by user level, as well as a global list that is available to all users. Aside from occasionally repeating image (e.g., the Alchemy United logo) I found that sometimes I don’t have time to look for an image and go through that process. I figured some quick and easy OSFA type images would be handy.

Yesterday was a great afternoon. Jazzed up AU_WPing yet again, took in the UEFA Champions League final and finished with  steak and grilled veggies on the BBQ. GOAL!!!
