WordPress plugin: EZ Widget 1 v0.5.4 (beta)

FYI => After pushing past a number of priorities and distractions, I’m finally ready to present to you WordPress plugin EZ Widget 1. Drum roll please…

Download: au-ez-widget-1_v-0-5-4.zip

I strongly recommend you read the Readme.txt for the complete (but none the less still EZ) picture.

But in a nutshell, there’s a widget (as well as a WordPress shortcode) that displays content from a WordPress custom post type created by the plugin. While the widget will only display one “post” at a time, you can assign multiple post to a widget and it will pick one at random and display it.

For example, you can store testimonials as EZ Widget 1 posts and then use the widget to display a randomly selected testimonial in the sidebar or footer.

Another great use for EZ Widget 1 would be when you have an article series that’s spread out over multiple posts. In each article, you’d naturally want to list the links to the other articles in the series. Instead of having to maintain those lists multiple times across each articles, you can set up a single EZ Widget 1 post and then use the same shortcode to insert it into each article. When you update the EZ Widget 1 post, all the articles will update automatically.

Or you can have a “best of” list, place the short code in your articles, and then just update the list in the EZ Widget 1 post.

I like to think of EZ Widget 1 as CMS “lite”. To some extend it doesn’t really do much. On the other hand, to some extent, there’s not much it can’t do.

You get the judge. Let me know what you think.
