re: “Why SEO Can’t Reside in a Silo”
Yes, very true. Thanks for reminding us.
It worth mentioned that the same can be said for design, development, branding, customer service, etc. If you have these in silos and your competitor has a more fluid and holistic approach then chances are good – unless you’re very lucky or your competitor very bad – you’re going to lose. In short, guests (i.e., customers) don’t buy silos. They, which btw includes us as well, want the whole package, as they say.
Too often the problem is that each silo believes they are the only thing that matters. That they stand above and beyond any other piece in the puzzle. For example, designers design with no consideration for marketing, web development, etc. True, a site should look nice, but in 2014 that’s no enough. I digress.
Those who know understand that traditional SEO is dead. Yeah, I said it ;) What we all should be focusing on is the holistic end to end Guest Experience – both online and off. That is, Guest Experience Marketing, if you will. Because as far as I can tell, search engines don’t buy a damn thing ;)
