The need for Me to get to We

I agree with half of this. Hopefully you know the rest of that joke. But seriously…

What I think this article overlooks is the simple fact that many people act out of fear, lack of self-confidence, other personal baggage, etc. Me is not a disease. It’s a symptom.

For example, people don’t share because they might fear someone else is going to take what they have and use it against them. For instance, a colleague might be promoted and/or get a raise. Or maybe a person doesn’t share because they’ve been taught that their ideas are often worthless. Pardon me for saying so but simply saying to a group it would be better if you shared is naive at best.

So yes, to get to We one must first – like it or not – resolve Me. Once Me becomes comfortable then We is natural if not effortless. What’s been identified here as Me is actually the lack of Me, and all the symptoms that come with it.
