The Devil & Soc Net Marketing Details

Crazy, isn’t it? Clients want expertise but only want to listen when it’s convenient.  To make matters worse, they expect best practices results by following their own rules. It’s as if, “No pain. No gain.” applies to everyone but them.

In this case, we’re talking about using Facebook as a channel for pushing out messages. Here’s a quick synopsis:

— Messages should come from the FB Fan Page, not your personal profile.

— Always include a link in a status update so FB also displays the Share link.

— In the majority of the cases, this link should direct to a specific page not just the home page. Don’t make your guests search for more info. Lead them right to it.

— From the photos FB suggests, select one relevant to the message. The fan page should already have its logo, correct?

— Spewing out random status updates are all too common. Keep the content short, relevant and inspiring. “Doors open at 10pm. $12 cover”  is good to know but it’s not reason enough to visit your venue.

The ultimate key to marketing (online or off), if not business itself, is empathy. Package it so it’s easy for your targeted guests to consume it. They are not you. They will never care as much or know as much as you do. Keep that in mind at all times.

Remember… No pain, no gain.
