The dashboard as a user experience

Interesting. The parallels between a car dashboard and a website are certainly worth pondering.

We’d all agree it certainly makes sense to pay attention to the information architecture, user interface and user experience. I’m just a bit concerned that in terms of car’s today’s cool design is going to look dated & done just a couple years out. The result might have a negative effect on resale value.

There’s a reason a Mercedes (for example) doesn’t change too much from year to year. Tweaking and re-skinning a website is one thing. But that option isn’t available for your car. Yet?
