Stay ahead by thinking ahead

Wow Bill. For a morning coffee read that was one of the best I’ve had in some time. Thanks!

To carry your analogy a step further, I’d like to add, “Don’t get so focused on one piece or vector that you lose site of the whole board.”  A silo-ized perspective can quickly spell doom, or at least result in a serious broadsiding.

Also, make an effort to stay in the mix. Stay engaged. Delegation does not have to equal disconnection. An ear to the ground is essential. But getting your hands dirty increases the odds of triggering a game changing conversation or idea.

I may have just slightly restated a couple of your points but I thought it was worth doing. Pardon me if I wasted anyone bandwidth.

For what it’s worth, the analogy I prefer to use is one of a crossword puzzle. Vectors shoot across, as well as up and down. On top of that they are woven together like fabric. The successful mind approaches each initiative in this way.

That said, both chess and soccer are good analogies as well.
