Thank you Stoney for putting the myth of Search Engine Rankings Obsession – SERO anyone? – to rest.

Semi-related, and I believe worth mentioning in this context, is that such an obsession can be unhealthy over the long-term. Look at what happened to those who were overly concerned about making Ms. Google happy and then Panda rolled out and crushed them.

SEO is obviously important. But it is just one cog in the wheel of building a successful brand.

Whether it’s SEO or some other business vector, it’s important to measure but it’s also important to make sure you’re watching the right metrics and giving each proper priority and context.
