Monetizing your private social network

Consumed => “Beyond Facebook: 5 Ways To Monetize Private Networks” by Eric Savitz on Forbes.

Good, if not standard, ideas. That said, when you read, “However, maximizing the potential of these private communities takes time and skill.” be sure to commit that to memory. If you think your idea just needs water then history probably has something very VERY different to say.

=> My value add (i.e., left a comment)…

First, “However, maximizing the potential of these private communities takes time and skill.” is so spot on that it should be repeated at the end of each paragraph.

I also think you might have missed one. That is: 6) Branded apparel/merchandise.  Of course, it depends on how well you build your network’s brand and how strongly people identify with it but something like Zazzle.com or CafePress.com could also add a growable revenue stream in some instances. Granted, their percentage off the top is moderate to high but they also do 90% of the work.
