I do believe there are two important points—that maybe were stated earlier in the series—that provide important context:

1) The data and maybe even the information will tell you what. However, it typically will not tell you why. Have some grasp of why is going to help make more accurate decision. (Kudos to Avinash Kaushik for his emphasis of this point.)

2) As they say on Wall Street, “Past performance is not always indicitive of future results.” Letting the tail wag the dog does have its limitations. Certainly be mindful of staying on course but don’t forget to invest some time and effort into R&D (just in case the course isn’t quite what it appears to be).

It’s all as much a science as an art, but we’ve got to try. Just winging it isn’t an option, nor is the status quo.
