Maybe their Like for your FB page is now a Hide

Answered => “What percentage of Facebook Pages’ updates are “hidden” from the news feed by people who “Like” those pages?” on Quora.

=> My answer…

That’s going to depend on a few things:

1) How much crap vs quality does a page push out? And how often? Obviously, this is defined relative to the receiver’s expectations, not the Page’s.

2) How were the Likes acquired in the first place? Using bait (e.g. contests) is a sure-fire way to attract the less likely to want to be engaged.

3) Where the Page/brand is in their life-cycle. Young brands with a hardcore following are going to have a different want for engagement than say Coke or Pepsi. The large you get and the more you spew, the more likely you are to get the “Hide”.

I would imagine that sooner or later Facebook is going to have to tell Page’s how many Hides they have  as well. At least that would start to give the Like some much needed context.
