Business Consulting For The 21st Century Via A Holistic & Intelligent Approach

Look ma, WordPress Featured Image

FYI => Slowly I turn the AU_Community theme (for WordPress) screw. While I prefer a mostly text driven site, I’m having a growing appreciate for the art of the thumbnail. “Let’s add a post level image to AU_Community,” I said to myself.

Without even looking too deep, WordPress custom fields seemed like a PITA. There had to be better way. Even a plugin with some UI customization would be fine. Then suddenly through The Magic of The Google I came across a wonderful price of blogging from the mighty Mr. Justin Tadlock.

I slapped add_theme_support() into my theme’s function.php and bingo! A new post widget was there for selecting and uploading a post Featured Image. That was it.

Mind you, I have to work on getting the image to display but that can’t be that difficult. I also decided I’m going to add support for using the Feature Image to AU_WPing. Subtle but it’s going to make using ol’ WPing that much cleaner and easier. The current process for adding the image that AU_WPing pushes out is adequate. But that’s it, just adequate.

Cheers to WordPress heavyweight Justin Tadlock and his “Everything you need to know about WordPress 2.9′s post image feature”
