It certainly makes sense to exercise due diligence, to prepare for battle, etc. Unfortunately, that preparation lulls many into believing they have it all figured out. And for the it they scopoed maybe they do. However, if it changes, then the plan quickly becomes irrelevant. Some just don’t know when to let go. Letting go means admitting they might have been wrong.

You begin to prepare for the unexpected the second you realize there will be the unexpected. IMHO, this is why a flexible framework is better than a static plan.

Sure, have a Plan A if you must, just be sure to be ready with a Framework B.
