How to be an ideal client

Consumed => “How to be a proactive task-handler” by Paul Glen on ComputerWorld.

The fact is these rules aren’t just for boss and subordinate. These rules apply to any client/”consultant” relationship. I’d like to add that the client is just as responsible for success as the consultant. Ideal outputs come from participate and collaboration. “Just go it it,” is not managing.

Also, if you find yourself saying, “That’s not what I asked for,” then you have only yourself to blame. Per Lutz’s “Words That Work” the clarity of the communication is the responsibility of the sender, not the receiver. If you don’t want to be misunderstood then stick around long enough to be sure your communication was received in the way you intended.
