Heads up on Facebook Pages update via email

As promised  a couple days ago, I modified my WordPress plug-in AU_WPing to push out social media profile updates via email. It even lets you attach an image! But when I went to actually use it I ran into some problems with Facebook (Fan) Pages and its update via email. Here’s what happened…

After logging into Facebook, I found my Page lists and picked a Page. I went to Edit Page and then the Mobile tab. Problem 1 – The email address displayed there is incorrect. In this particular instance I was working on the Killington Year Round project which uses multiple social media channels—one channel for each blog category. In short, every Page had the same address. Obviously that’s not going to work.

After poking around I noticed that under Edit Page > Mobile > Learn More there was an option to have the email address emailed to you. I did that and got a different (and hopefully unique) email address. Problem 1 solved. However, I quickly stumbled into Problem 2. After having two or three of the update via email addresses sent to me FB said I was sending too many emails and that I should check back later. Two or three is too many? Huh? KYR has nearly 20 channels. Something this simple shouldn’t take a couple days.

Thank you Mr. Person of the Year.
