Business Consulting For The 21st Century Via A Holistic & Intelligent Approach

Grrr…Microsoft WebMatrix. Hello…Instant WordPress

FYI => I was doing some exploratory WordPress development the end of last week. Ultimately, as a proof of concept I wanted to see if I could set up a simple jQuery slider that used a WP custom post type to manage the slides. I was using Microsoft WebMatrix for dev on my local client. Bad idea…

After three straight days of morning coffee R&D and WP_Query not working as expected, I concluded that maybe the problem wasn’t me but WebMatrix. I then switched over to Instant WordPress—which was something I was looking to try anyway—and sure enough, the code that didn’t work in WebMatrix, worked exactly as advertised in Instant WordPress. Bingo! Proof of concept (almost) proved!!

I’ll probably stick with WebMatrix as an IDE/editor but Instant WordPress looks to be my new local WP server. Being an aspiring WordPress developer can be fun. But sometimes the learning curve and  troubleshooting cuts into my productivity. Live and learn, right?
