That said, it’s not just about having an audience. It’s about having an audience you can reach. For example, I’ve been working with a client who keeps insisting on a particular target market. Great! Having a goal is half the battle. However, he has yet to identify a productive and efficient channel for reaching that target. I have suggested we devote at least some resources to pursuing other targets that are easier to reach. Thus far those recommendations have been met with little or no interest.

Are we marketing or are we hunting ghosts? Sometimes it’s hard to tell.
