Dear Verizon (and Comcast) you have the wrong number

FYI => Am I the only one who gets a “Triple Play” offer or similar in the mail and thinks, “I haven’t had a land-line in almost 10 years. Why would I want something – packaged or not – that I don’t really need?” You’d think that in 2012, the age of Big Data and serious marketing analysis, that someone at Verizon and Comcast would say, “Maybe we shouldn’t pitch a Triple Play offer to households that don’t have a land-land? Maybe we should try to sell them something they’d actually be interested in buying?”

Or put another way, maybe if Verizon and Comcast didn’t waste so much budget on off-target marketing they could offer me an internet and/or internet+TV package at a reasonable price. There’s no value in the upgrade to a Triple Play offer if I’m paying for a service that I’m not going to use. Stop killing trees with pointless direct mail and send me something I might actually be interested in.

Can YOU hear ME now? Sadly, probably not.
