Dead Salesmen And The Opportunity For New Birth

Consumed => “Death of a Salesman. Of Lots of Them, Actually.” by James Ledbetter on Slate.com.

http://www.slate.com/id/2268122/

Certainly a bit uneven in its premise. For example, he says:

For better or worse, mass consumption became the engine that powered not only the American economy but also its value system and psyche. Getting people to spend their money became a kind of secular religion that was necessary to overthrow an older Puritan order.

Well, if you’re part of the for worse crowd then you welcome a return to normalcy. It would certainly make sense to stop overemphasizing  the economy when assessing the over-all health of our society. At the end of the day, we are citizens and not just consumers.

I digress.
