Not sure about you but the “project manager” in me is going to commit this bit to memory:

Aligning these numbers means that everyone knows and can agree on target countries, regions or products for particular attention. Everyone can judge progress toward the plan and against the competition, in some cases even down to individual retailers.

The point is, data is just a tool. What makes P&G so effective is not the raw tool but the understanding, appreciation, infrastructure and leadership committed to and driven by that tool. The tool would be nothing if not for the supporting cast. It is the latter that more should probably pay more attention to.
