Discuss your fees and rates.
Question => Discuss your fees and rates.
Answer => My expectations with regards to compensation are a direct function of:
—My role(s) and responsibilities;
—Consultant versus freelancer;
—The level and length of commitment required;
—The goal and the depth & breadth of the knowledge, experience, skills and aptitudes required to successfully reach that goal;
—Time frames and deadlines;
—On site versus no commute time;
—Size of the project and its current phase;
—As well as the client’s availability, commitment, level of participation and what priority the project is to them.
Four additional things worth mentioning:
—For longer term commitments I will typically ask that we revisit the compensation question at some near future date.
—I invoice weekly on Terms: Net 15.
—I am not interested in bartering for a piece of the action.
—If you have properly scoped your project and can provide a document with all the necessary details then yes, in many cases, I’d be interested in submitting a fixed price bid for such projects.
—If on the other hand your needs are not yet well defined and/or you seek a more fluid resource then I will quote an hourly rate.
