While I didn’t necessarily expect otherwise, the PHP $_SESSION variable does the trick. There’s one subtle catch.
It looks like there’s a slight quirk in how EE processes the channel parameters category vs category_group
GL is my first site with ExpressionEngine 2.1.x. The fact that EllisLabs is able to deliver so much CMS for less than $300 is mind boggling.
