Back to basics: WordPress and SEO

Hey Dustin. Good stuff – just a couple things to add / suggest:

1) Add the year to your URL anyway. Google likes timely content, as do visitors. Perhaps it’s just me but I find myself doing more and more searches that include the year.

2) Aside from checking the H1 being used, also checked that other headline tags aren’t being abused. There are still plenty of designers who still believe headline tags are for formatting, and not for communicating to the robot what’s important.

3) Since you mentioned images: be conscious of naming images. Perhaps I just stated the obvious – pardon me – but I figured it couldn’t hurt to mention.

4) Make sure listing pages (e.g., by category, by tag, archive listings, etc.) are no index, no follow, etc. I believe this can be done with the Yoast plugin.
