Are we better informed, or just more informed?

Consumed => “Business Casual Content” by David Meerman Scott on Econtent Mag.

Agreed. The general tone of communications has gotten more casual. Unfortunately, I’m not so sure the level and clarity of communication has actually increased. In other words, just because it tastes good and goes down easy doesn’t mean it’s good for you, does it? That said, it is refreshing to be subjected to less hyperbole and less heavy handed marketing department excess. None the less, are we better informed? Or just willing to be more informed?

Also, towards the end David says:

I’m convinced that the trend to casual content means that consumers want to get closer to the organizations they do business with. When a company, hospital, educational institution, government agency, or other outfit comes across as friendly and engaging based on the way it communicates with people online, it will be more successful.

I take issue with this as well. For example, just because a politician comes across as he/she is just like me and they are electable does not mean they are the right person for the job. Quite frankly, I’m not so sure I want someone like me running the country. Nor do I want a hospital speaking in the same casual tone that I typically speak.
