Business Consulting For The 21st Century Via A Holistic & Intelligent Approach

A structure is only as good as its foundation

Consumed => “Global CIO: The Toyota-Microsoft Cloud Partnership Is A Big Deal” by Chris Murphy on InformationWeek.

—The bit about IT (i.e., technology) and improving a business is no longer solely a big company issue. The advantages and benefits of “technology” (in some form) are within the reach of all. Such tools are being mainstreamed as they are pushed further down to the pecking order. When there are pre-teens with smartphones then it’s time to stop thinking about “technology” as some sort of magic and/or rocket science. It’s here. It’s now. It’s not about big or small. It’s simply about winning.

—Near the end there’s a quote about “getting the platform right.” Again, this issue isn’t exclusive to large organizations. Getting the foundation right is important. What you’ll be able to do, as well as how and how well you’ll be able to do it are going to depend on foundation/platform. Whatever it is, be smart and do it right. If budget is limited then opt for less better over more less-good. Ultimately, a structure is only as good as its foundation.
