2011 declared “The Year of the Donkey”

Yes, that’s right. I’ve declared 2011, “The Year of the Donkey!” You’re probably wondering what I mean by that. Well, the quick translation is: It’s time to kick ass.

Cute? Maybe a bit. Heavy handed and a bit snarky? Sure, you bet. But the point is, the opportunities are there, and whiny excuses about the economy and such are pointless, eh? Hopelessly waiting for 2005 to come back again isn’t going to work well either, nor is the status quo.

The sub-theme here is also, “Actions speak louder than words.” I learned plenty of lessons in 2010 but one of things that kept coming up was that there seem to be plenty of brands willing to talk about vision and growth. However, not all are truly dedicated to the action required to trigger that evolution, not all are willing to participate in the process to keep their brand rolling in that direction. The fact is, it’s take focus and determination. The business of work is not a Corona commercial.

On that note, I’ll add that some say, “Talk is cheap.” Actually, it’s proven to be very expensive for quite a few. If you know what I mean.
