10 questions to ask before you get started with social media

Nice job. Very sensible. It’s not rocket science, is it?

I was jazzed to see you mentioned the issue of time / commitment. Let’s face it, social media is just like everything else in life—you get out what you put in. Unfortunately, for some (too many?) there’s a myth that social media is a low cost, low effort marketing panacea. Hardly true, yes?

Also, I’d like to add a follow up to “Who Do I Want To Communicate With?”. That question is: “#10 – What do they expected to be shared with them?” As I’m sure you’d agree in a conversation / share driven world it’s not so much about the brand’s agenda (as was the case with old media). The driving force is the wants and needs of their (target) audience. For example, if you have a daily special and they expect to know what that is by 11.00am in order to plan lunch then it’s up to the brand to make that happen.

In short, it’s not about one way push-outs but info sharing that meets expectations.
